Juan De La Cruz Band - Himig Natin

Time for some Pinoy Rock. This is a great album of heavy rock from the Philippines released in 1973.
I asked a Filipino friend what the title means and he told me "Our Voice". He also told me that pinoy means "boy" (pina=girl). I ripped this from a CD re-issue, which has a different cover and some bonus live tracks.

Prism - Armageddon - Canada - 1979

Purchased this one last year for 8 bucks just because I liked the cover, total prog-rock cheese, yes, but it hits something in my mind. From a collection angle, it does have a Bryan Adams connection. The album itself I'm not so fussed about, but I post it nonetheless as my tastes are my own. This album is actually not hard to find, at least where I am at, in used vinyl stores and thrift shops alike.

The Band

Here is something about them I copied from somewhere, but I forget where, apologies and thanks in equal portions...Armageddon is the third studio album and fourth album overall by Canadian rock band Prism. It was released in 1979 on canadian record label GRT. It achieved double platinum status in Canada (in excess of 200,000 units sold.)[1]

Armageddon is notable for several reasons. Bruce Fairbairn received the canadian music industry 1980 Juno Award for Producer of the Year for the album.[2] Band leader and guitarist-songwriter Lindsay Mitchell received the SOCAN Song of the Year award for "Night to Remember".[3] It is the band's best selling album. Despite all the commercial success, record label GRT filed for bankruptcy the next year. It is also curious for the songwriting contributions by future canadian international recording artist Bryan Adams.

I IDENTIFIED THIS PANAMA "MONSTER"

I was looking around youtube the other night and found these odd pictures of a "monster" allegedly killed by some young boys in Panama.

So I stared at these for a while wondering what the hell it could be, if even real, and suddenly it hit me....
IT'S A SLOTH!!! Yes, a sloth. Don't know if it is two or three-toed, but in the top picture you can clearly see one of its large claws and the face is clearly a sloth face - look it up. As for why this poor thing is hairless, who knows, maybe it is from decomposition (it has that wet pasty look of a newly rotting body), or maybe a genetic defect (adding to its demise - rather than being killed by kids). Point is, this is not a monster.

ALEXANDRE ZELKINE - PESSIMISTE FRENCH-CANADIAN POLITIFOLK 1973

This one was 50 cents at a thrift shop. French language vocals. From what I could find out, Mr. Zelkine is a Russian who moved to Montreal, Canada via France in 1966. He performed at the Canadian Expo.
